Black Is The New Emmy’s

Regina King, Viola Davis, Uzo Aduba EMMY WINNERS!!!

Year after year, many have shared their voices complaining about the BLACK-LESS Emmy Awards …a show lacking the brown and black faces.  This year it was a step up for the African American communities! While there were awards all through the night, we really did not see them because we were still talking about the 3 Queens.  The Urban Lyfestyles’ Emmy Winners:   All the BLACKNESS!!!!    There were about 25 African Americans’ nominated, and of course our ladies.

  1.  Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie… REGINA KING.  Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard were presenters, three out of the six Were Black women (Angela Bassett for American Horror Story: Freak Show and Mo’Nique for Bessie).

     3.  Best Actress in a Drama Series .. Viola Davis.   Another history-In The Making!   First woman to win Best Actress (How to Get Away With Murder).

“In my mind, I see a line. And over that line, I see green fields and lovely flowers and beautiful white women with their arms stretched out to me, over that line. But I can’t seem to get there no how. I can’t seem to get over that line. That was Harriet Tubman in the 1800s. And let me tell you something: The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.’
